Apple is Ending Support for Intel-based Apps in 2027
Computer Cuisine Deluxe was written in FileMaker Pro, and then converted to a standalone Intel-based app so users would not need to purchase FileMaker Pro, and still enjoy a cost-effective solution in the form of Computer Cuisine Deluxe. Unfortunately, FileMaker (Apple) removed a developer’s ability to create stand alone apps entirely, so there’s no longer any way I can develop Computer Cuisine Deluxe for Apple silicon going forward.
Computer Cuisine Deluxe (and the Sports Card Database) will cease to function in the upcoming macOS Golden Gate in 2027.
NOTE: I know this isn’t helpful to most Mac users, but the Windows version will not have these issues, and will continue to run on the latest version of Windows going forward.
I have never locked your recipe data into any proprietary file format. Quite the opposite. Thus, you can export/backup your recipes into a text-based CSV file by clicking the “Backup” button on the main screen. A CSV backup file is the most widely used text-based file format on the planet, so hopefully you can use this file to migrate to another recipe program if desired. You should also print out all recipes (or create a PDF file from the Print option) to ensure you have them in a format for easy viewing.
Computer Cuisine Deluxe is the longest running Mac-based recipe software ever made. I’ve kept this going as a labor of love to my mom, but in terms of updating Computer Cuisine to run on the latest MacOS operating systems out there, this isn’t something that will be possible, and it will sadly be the end of the road for this application after nearly 40 years.
I am sorry that I don’t have any better news for all of you, but I sincerely hope that you have enjoyed this recipe program over the years.
I thank all of you for the support and kind words I have received related to Computer Cuisine Deluxe. It’s been a fun ride.
-Mike
